Dr Anil Karlekar is one of the most experienced cardiac anaesthesiologists of the country, practicing in the specialty for over 35 years, 25 of them at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute itself. Over the years he has anaesthetized over 20,000 cases and has set standards for safe conduct of some very complex cases. He has been responsible for setting up the departmental protocols to ensure smooth and systematic functioning. He has trained several anaesthesiologists who themselves now hold important positions at various centres. Techno-savvy Dr Karlekar also contributed a great deal towards implementation of IT initiatives at FEHI.
